Transformation Story:

Meet Linda*, a middle-aged female resident of Letore, living in a traditional manyatta (house) made of mud, sticks, leaves, and grass. Linda is a mother of eight children, two of whom attend our center in Namarei and are in grade three. Working as a cook in the Namarei center, she’s also part of our support staff. Her life’s journey, from the past to the present, showcases a remarkable transformation that’s hard to miss.

In Letore, Linda’s story is a testament to what transformation truly means. When she joined MOHI, she only spoke her local Samburu language, leaving her unsure if she could adapt, communicate, and provide for her family. She faced challenges paying school fees, attending church, contributing to offerings, and even ensuring her family had enough to eat. Yet, with determination, Linda’s journey of change began.

Today, Linda embodies the essence of transformation. Her role as a cook within the organization catalyzed a comprehensive shift in her life. Her past struggles might go unnoticed by those who meet her now. Economically, she’s gained the ability to provide for her children. Spiritually, she’s a devoted member of the Larapasi Deliverance Church in Letore, actively participating and contributing regularly.

Her communication skills have flourished, especially in Swahili, demonstrating confidence that’s hard to believe considering her humble beginnings. Despite never experiencing a classroom setting, she’s embraced learning and growth. Linda is an integral part of the Letore Self Help Women’s Group, attending meetings, engaging in table banking, and receiving Community Heath Evangelism training every Saturday afternoon. Her consistent contributions reflect her commitment to her savings.

Linda arrives to work by 6 a.m. daily to fulfill her duties with dedication. She serves as a positive role model not only for her peers but also for the younger generation. Undoubtedly, she’s a shining example of transformation in progress, a story that continues to unfold. Keep an eye on her journey – it’s truly inspiring!

Partner Activity:

  • Additionally, it brought us great joy to host the medical team from Eastside Christian Church this term. They played a pivotal role by conducting health screenings for 191 students, offering treatment and medications to those who needed assistance. Their visit contributed significantly to the well-being of our students.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please join us in prayer for increased sponsorship opportunities for our students. Being sponsored goes a long way in securing a child’s future and helping them break the cycle of poverty.
