Head Teacher’s Greeting:

Receive Calvary greetings from Mabatini Center. Praise God for giving us a great term! We appreciate you for your prayers, support, and partnership as we transform lives through the love of Jesus. We would like to share with you some of the highlights of this term.

Jackline Gaithuma, Head Teacher, Mabatini.

Current Stats:

Number of Students: 968

Unsponsored Students: 465

Term Highlight:

  • Our students had the opportunity to participate in the national music festivals. Our school had 18 musical presentations at the sub-county level. A remarkable 10 of these presentations advanced to the regional level. We’re grateful to God for getting us this far and we’re aiming to make it to the national level.
  • Our grade six boys and girls had an enriching experience at the Angaza Discipleship Camp. It was a wonderful chance for them to explore a different environment than what they were accustomed to. Among them, 50 learners made a commitment to Christ and we’re excited to guide them in their spiritual journey through discipleship and baptism classes.
  • Our learners also took part in the regional MOHI spelling bee. Out of our 10 participants, 3 have qualified to compete against other students across all of MOHI schools..

Transformation Story:

Paul’s* parents went through a divorce when he was just a child. Sadly, his father passed away later, leaving his mother to raise their five children on her own. Due to her limited education, she could only find sporadic work, and the income wasn’t enough to adequately support the family.

Paul was enrolled at MOHI Mabatini school in kindergarten and continued his education up to fifth grade. He then transferred to MOHI’s Ndovoini Boys Boarding School at sixth grade and achieved a remarkably high score in his end-of-primary school education tests. He went on to attend Giakanja Boys High School and also graduated with extremely good grades.

However, during the pandemic in 2021, Paul fell into the wrong company and became entangled in drug abuse. His behavior took a negative turn, leading to frequent conflicts with his mother and neighbors. When our social workers approached him about joining the Mnara program, a gap year program aimed at giving high school graduates the tools to achieve their goals and be upstanding members of society, he vehemently refused.

Diligent follow-up, alongside unwavering prayers and counseling, persisted for Paul. Their prayers were finally answered, and they achieved a breakthrough as Paul eventually changed his mind and was open to the idea of pursuing higher education.

With the support of a social worker, Paul’s mother took the necessary steps to enroll him in the university where he had been accepted.

Paul’s journey is a testament to the power of timely interventions in helping young individuals overcome challenges and fulfill their potential. While Paul’s decision to discontinue his college education could have had severe repercussions for his future, the intervention of a dedicated social worker paired with consistent counseling, played a pivotal role in turning his life around. Today, at the age of 21, Paul is thriving in his first year at Africa International University, excelling both academically and personally.

We attribute all the glory to God and extend our heartfelt wishes for Paul’s continued success on his journey.

Prayer Request:

  • We’re putting our trust in God as we work towards attaining some government documents for our school. Though the paperwork and the process can be challenging and sometimes frustrating, we’re praying for favor and God’s guidance throughout the process.
