Transformation Story:

Linda* and Henry* have been parents and residents of our Kosovo community for over a decade. Social workers identified their family through home visits, evangelism, and counseling efforts aimed at reaching vulnerable families and children to create positive change in their lives.

Due to inconsistent casual employment, the parents struggled to provide for their family, making it difficult to access food, rent, school fees, and other basic requirements. As a result, the children lost hope in accessing education, spending their days at home without proper nutrition and sometimes going without meals.

The family agreed to enroll their children in Missions of Hope’s Kosovo school after prayer, sharing, and encouragement from our social workers. This decision brought spiritual guidance, nutrition, mentorship, and education into their lives. The family received continuous support through community empowerment initiatives, prayers, and assistance.

At present, the children’s progress is notable. Dennis* is in the third year of high school, Mercy* is in 9th grade, and Tim* is in the 11th grade, and they are all performing well academically. The continuous involvement of the staff has motivated the parents to work hard to cover school commitment fees, provide daily meals, and save for the future.

Prior to MOHI’s intervention, the couple faced conflicts due to the father’s habit of spending his meager earnings on drinking with friends, leading to financial strain and family discord. His behavior eventually progressed to stealing and aggressive behavior at home. However, the staff’s guidance, training, counseling, and support resulted in transformative change. The father stopped drinking, redirected his resources to support the family, and improved relationships within the household.

Teachers observed a gradual improvement in the students’ academic performance and noted parents’ active involvement in guiding and counseling their children. The students actively engaged in school mentoring and the Christian union program, in addition to attending Saturday mentorship sessions.

Presently, the family actively attends Outreach Hope Church Kosovo. The children are also connected to Sunday school classes, reflecting gratitude for the restoration and redemption they have experienced.

This transformation journey stands as a testament to the impact of positive support and intervention, ultimately guided by faith and dedication to rebuilding lives.

Partner Activity:

  • We were filled with excitement as the Lincoln Heights Christian Church engaged with our staff, students, and the community. Our students truly valued the trips that our partners organized, creating memorable experiences.
  • We were delighted to host the Lifespring Harrison Team at our center and within the community. The staff greatly appreciated the uplifting motivational lunch, and the students were thrilled by the field trips that were thoughtfully organized for them.

Prayer Request:

  • Let us join in prayer for the grade eight and twelve candidates as they gear up for the national tests at the year’s end. May their efforts bear fruit as they transition to the next stages of their education.
  • In this challenging economic period, let us also pray for God’s provision for our parents. Many rely on sporadic casual work that is currently scarce.
  • We lift up our prayers for unsponsored students, that they may find sponsors to support their education journey.
  • Lastly, we ask for divine guidance in the completion of various school projects.
