Transformation Story:

Tom was born as the fourth child in a family of seven – four boys and three girls. Their modest dwelling was a shanty house located in the Kariobangi area, a place where poverty was an ever-present challenge. Both of Tom’s parents had trouble finding work, which made it challenging for them to support their family.

Right from an early age, Tom posed challenges for his family. He exhibited undisciplined behavior, often restless and defiant. He had a tendency to run away from home, seeking solace on the streets. This mischievous nature extended to his school life as well. He would fabricate lies about his health, feigning illness to avoid attending classes. On the rare occasions he did go to school, he would hide in the restrooms, evading the watchful eyes of his teachers.

News began to spread that Tom had abandoned his siblings and returned to life on the streets. Our social worker stepped in, urging Tom’s parents not to worry, and assuring them that she would address the issue. She set out on a mission to change Tom’s life, providing consistent guidance and therapy to help him overcome his traumatic history.

Over time, Tom started to change. The social worker tirelessly worked with him, offering prayers, instilling discipline, and emphasizing on the importance of education and family. Tom’s parents also received counseling support. Tom’s mother accepted Jesus during a home visit by their family social worker. Later, his father also became a born-again Christian. Their newfound faith paved the way for them to secure jobs, bringing stability to their lives and family. With improved financial circumstances, they were able to move into a double-roomed house, providing more space for their growing family.

Under the nurturing guidance of the social worker, Tom’s transformation continued to flourish. He evolved into a model of good behavior, consistently neat and tidy – a far cry from his former self. Right now, Tom is in fourth grade. He actively engages in church programs and attends services alongside his grateful and proud parents. The church community warmly embraced Tom, acknowledging the remarkable change he had undergone.

Tom’s journey from a wayward child to a responsible young boy served as an inspiration to those around him. His story highlighted the power of compassion, patience, and unwavering support. Through the dedicated efforts of his social worker, the love of his family, and the guiding light of Jesus Christ, Tom is now on the path to a promising and bright future.

Evidently, Tom’s transformation stands as a reminder that every child, regardless of their circumstances, possesses the potential to rewrite their narrative and become the best version of themselves.
