Madoya

Huruma is an informal settlement in Nairobi located in the Mathare Valley. It has a culturally diverse population living in the area. Vigilante gangs reside in this area  leading to regular escalation of violence whenever there is a trigger.

The largest single occupation group  in this community is small scale enterprises, followed by casual laborers, artisans, and formal employment as security guards, domestic workers, clerks, and waiters.

The Madoya School begun immediately after the post election violence of 2007 and early 2008 and our senior most students are now in their grade 12. The school has mainly operated in rented premises during its many years of existence but there is hope of moving to our own building soon. The school continues to offer hope by providing quality christian education to current students and many more to come.
