Our Coram Deo Center (meaning God’s presence in Latin) is located in Molo constituency. The community is home to about 4000 people. Corem Deo is a fairly metropolitan community made up of people from various communities from around Kenya. Their major religion is Christianity.
The main economic activity in this region is small-scale farming which involves growing crops like vegetables, potatoes and pyrethrum. They also engage in small scale vending of meat and vegetables from the farms.
The neighboring Molo town is a highly industrious area where many people come to find casual labor in the factories, industries and farms.
The literacy levels in the community are fairly low; only a small percentage of the population can read and write. The area has a few private schools and public schools. The private schools are too expensive for the average parents to afford. While in the public schools, the students to teacher ratio is so high that the quality of education is compromised.
MOHI has been able to bring quality Christian education to the children in Coram Deo who cannot afford it. The community has received hope through the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus, giving us the opportunity to empower the community spiritually, socially and economically.
