The Bishop Dan K’Ogembo Center is located in Western Kenya near Lake Victoria. The center serves a community of about 120 homesteads and about 1,700 people, the majority of which are from the Luo tribe. The major religion is Christianity.
The main economic activity is fishing and casual work such as farmhand and domestic work. The major challenges of this community include drug and alcohol abuse. The soil in the area is sandy, making farming difficult causing food scarcity in the community. The community needed quality education for their children and a school that provided nutritious meals.
MOHI brought the hope of Jesus Christ to the community through the feeding program and quality Christian education.
