Missions of Hope International ministers to the whole person, meeting needs that are physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual. MOHI's varied ministries are not completed by individuals or departments working in isolation. Rather, all aspects of MOHI's work are interconnected and interrelated to best serve children and families and actively demonstrate Christ's love.
MOHI schools provide food and medical care to children. CHE (Community Health Evangelism) seeks to educate communities on basic health and hygiene to improve their lives. Entrepreneurship and job skills training allow community members to earn a greater income to better provide for their families, thereby reducing personal stress and improving family relationships.
Children receive an education, access to a library, a safe environment, time to interact with their peers, and encouragement from their teachers and other staff. Parents who receive training in entrepreneurship or job skills gain a sense of empowerment in addition to practical skills. They are no longer helpless and hopeless. Home visits by social workers, CHE workers, and members of the spiritual team uplift community members and demonstrate to them that they are valued and not forgotten.
CHE teaches communities how to choose leaders and work together toward positive change. Business Development Groups offer support and accountability for those seeking micro-finance loans. PTCs (Post Test Clubs) provide an opportunity for community members living with HIV to fellowship, share life experiences, and support each other. Moreover, the example set by MOHI staff helps restore community by removing the negative stigma associated with HIV or physical or mental disabilities. Teaching and modeling Christian values helps people learn to speak kindly to one another, treat each other fairly, and interact with mutual respect.
Every aspect of MOHI's work involves sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Individuals in jobs skills training or business development groups learn about God's love and experience it from their teachers and trainers. Children learn about God through daily Bible stories and weekly faith groups. Learning about and experiencing God's love counteracts the forces of depression, hopelessness, and despair.
