In the community of Shambini, Kenya, the daily search for clean water is challenging and often dangerous.
Women and children can walk for long distances just to collect water from contaminated sources. Filled with bacteria, parasites and toxic chemicals, the water can lead to widespread illness, missed school days, and even loss of life.
Access to clean water isn’t just a convenience; it’s a necessity.
Without clean water, the children and their families are likely to remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and poor health.

Clean Water Is Critical

In June 2025, my family and I participated in a mission trip to Kenya, which was a truly life-changing experience.
A pressing issue that stood out to me was the lack of clean water in the community of Shambini, a rural village that our team visited. Many families rely on unsafe water sources, which put their health at risk and hinder their daily lives.
The children have to go fetch water early in the morning before school and again in the afternoon after school. Often, they have to battle extreme conditions, encounter animals, and walk long distances to reach the nearest unsanitary source of water.
This trip experience has ignited a strong interest within me to help address this need.
Providing access to clean water will not only improve health outcomes but also empower the community to flourish sustainably.
