Sponsor a Child at Pangani

For $40/month, or roughly $1.33 a day, you can make a direct and profound difference in a child’s life. Your sponsorship ensures that your sponsored child receives an excellent Christian education, nutritious food, medical care, and the opportunity to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

We met Linda* when she was in grade 4. She was an only child to her single mother. When she joined Linda was well behaved and always came to school on time, neat and tidy. She was hard working and did well in school. After some time Linda’s behavior began to change.

She was no longer on time and her grades began to fall and sometimes she would come to school looking untidy and unkempt. This worried her teachers because they knew that when a child comes to school looking untidy that there might not be anyone taking care of them at home.

Linda’s social worker paid them a visit to find out about the situation at home. When they arrived they found out that Linda’s mother had started drinking and was rarely home. Linda was left in the care of her grandmother who ran a vegetable stand. Linda’s grandmother was elderly and found it difficult to take care of Linda.

The social worker began to look for Linda’s mother to see if she could talk to her and understand why she had taken up drinking and abandoned her child. Eventually the social worker found Linda’s mother in a bar and they began to talk. The social worker would encourage Linda’s mother and help her find purpose in taking care of her child.

It took some time, but step by step, day by day things were getting better. Linda’s mother spent less and less time drinking and more time helping Linda’s grandmother run the vegetable stand business. They joined a local church and are growing in their faith.

Linda is now in grade 8 and is back on track. She had grown to be responsible, kind and hard working. We thank God for this transformation in Linda’s family.

Term Highlights

  • We were able to recruit 93 kindergarteners for this new school year in January. The little angels have been able to memorize Bible verses and also have learned to say their prayers. We bless the Lord as we look forward to seeing them grow in ways that please the Lord.
  • Our grade 7 boys went to Angaza Discovery Camp. They had a great time at the coast of Kenya where they swam in the Indian ocean for the first time. They grew spiritually and learned about topics like self control and dealing with life’s challenges. They were able to interact with nature where they saw different sea animals and plants. In the process of all the fun and learning, 20 of them received Christ! Glory be to God!

Church Updates

  • We held a beginning of the year overnight church service that had an attendance of 70 people. We prayed for the year and dedicated it to the Lord as well as worshiped in song till the sun came up.
  • During an Ignite spiritual service for our grades… 29 of them decided to give their lives to Christ! Hallelujah!
  • Pangani Center held a C.H.E pastors training . They were trained on tools to use when engaging with the local community that will help them in evangelizing and transforming a home through the love of Christ.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray against alcohol and drug abuse in the community of Mathare among adults and teenagers alike.
  • Pray for good health for our students, parents and staff here at Pangani.
  • Pray for our students to be well behaved and attentive in class as they pursue a better life and a relationship with Jesus.
