Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Rose* is a 9-year-old girl in grade three at our Olturot Center. She is the 7th born of a family of 9, with four brothers and four sisters who all live with their single mother. Rose’s father was killed some years ago and her mother was left to fend for her family on her own. Rose’s mother sells a local brew called Bussa to try and provide for her family. However, with the little that she gets from the alcohol business, it is not enough to make ends meet. They live in a two-room hut, due to the family’s low income, and they only afford one meal a day.
Before Rose joined Missions of Hope she was desperate and she was about to lose hope in life. Rose was very close with her father so his passing downed her spirits. Her family Social Worker walked with Rose, encouraging her and giving her the kind of spiritual support she needed. Today Rose has a reason to smile and a future to look forward to. She has become very determined in her studies and is a very bright and hard-working girl. She received Jesus Christ as her personal savior and is now able to lead others during devotion. We thank God for the transformation.

Term Highlights

- We are very proud of the six new classrooms that were constructed and painted.
- We thank God for our learners, who were suffering from malnutrition, are now taking supplements and that their health is improving.
- We are very happy to welcome new staff members who joined to support the vision and mission of the organization during the term: one teacher and a cook.
Prayer Requests

- Pray for good health for our learners and families.
- Pray for rain. We haven’t seen rain in a long time leading to drought and famine.
- Pray for peace among the different communities that live here, that they will be able to coexist in harmony.
