*Vera is a grade five student at the Olturot center. She lives with her parents and six siblings in a village near the school.

It was not easy to have Vera recruited because her parents were not keen on having their children join school. It took a lot of persuasion but eventually, Vera was allowed to become a student. She soon proved to be a model student who picked up very fast in her studies and quickly became one of the best students in her class.

As the parents saw their daughter thriving and being so happy to be in school, it softened their hearts toward education. As a result, it became easier to recruit Vera’s siblings and today almost all of her siblings are in school.

Vera continues to do well in her education and she holds her dream of being a teacher, in the future, very close. She has become a role model to other girls who are now embracing education and taking their studies seriously.

We have witnessed the transformation in Vera’s life and we give God all the glory.

• Construction of an additional six classrooms is ongoing and we are excited to be able to accommodate even more students.
• Our music club is growing in leaps and bounds and we are especially proud of their success in performing traditional folk songs.
• We are proud of our pupils’ advancement in fluently reading English. This is a milestone because most of them start their schooling only able to speak in their local dialect.
• We are glad that our school enrollment has increased this term. This shows that the surrounding community is warming up to the idea of education for all their children.

• Pray that our 58 unsponsored students will get sponsors.
• Pray for peace to prevail in the entire country as we move closer to the August 9th general election and also for our county (Marsabit) which has had insecurity issues in the past couple of months.
• Our area is an arid area and we are trusting God to send us adequate rains.
