Penny* is 5 years old and just joined our Kindergarten class with her sister who is in Grade 3. Penny is the last of a family of 9 grandchildren who all live with their grandmother in the community around our Molo Milimani Center. 

Penny and her sister come from a troubled home. After their father died their mother left them in the care of their grandmother. At that time their grandmother was in good health. She owned a vegetable stand where she tried her best to provide for her grandchildren. The weight of caring for all 9 children became very heavy and she developed high blood pressure and other health complications. As a result, she has undergone many surgeries and hasn’t been able to take care of the family. 

One day while the social worker went into the community to teach about economic empowerment, Penny’s grandmother pulled them aside and told them her story. She wanted her grandchildren to be able to go to school and have a meal every day. We took Penny and her sister to join our school. 

Being a part of MOHI has been a great relief to Penny’s grandmother, she is on the road to recovery and health so she can work and provide for her family. In the meantime, MOHI has given her grandchildren a chance to an education despite her poor health. We thank God for the opportunity to serve this family in a time of grave need.

• Brian Smith, one of our partners, came to our center. It was a delight to have him interact with the children, staff and community members here at our center.
• We had a successful recruitment process where we have 22 new kindergarten students who have now settled into school and are enjoying their time with their teachers and friends.

• Pray for our families as they struggle to make ends meet in these difficult economic times. We pray that God will provide for them. 
• We pray for your families in the community. Pray that they may come to know and love Jesus.
