Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Fred* is 6 years old and in grade 1. He lives close to our Mabatini Center with his 2 older brothers, one is 17 years old the other is 14 years old and a part of the MOHI program. They live with their single mother after their parents separated.
Fred’s mother was a housewife when her marriage ended. When her husband left she had nothing to her name other than her children. She struggled to make ends meet. Eventually she became very desperate and she resorted to prostitution to provide for her family.
While our social worker was visiting homes this is when they met Fred’s mother and she narrated her story to the social worker with tears in her eyes. Her 2 school going boys were admitted into the program. Her social worker told her about a job opening at the school as a janitor, she applied and got the job.
Fred’s mother no longer needs to sell her body. She can now make a decent living for her children. She can now provide for her family with ease and for this they are grateful. We are honored to be able to serve this family sharing with them the love of Jesus.
Term Highlights

- We have opened a high school in our Mabatini Center. Construction is still underway, but most of the rooms are habitable and are hosting the new high school students.
- It was our grade 7’s turn to go for MOHI’s Angaza Discovery Camp at Kenya’s coast. They came back excited and told all their friends about the amazing experience they had at camp.
- We had a teachers training and refreshers course on early child development and teaching junior classes. It was a great experience and opportunity for the teachers to gain new skills and be refreshed on existing ones.
Partner Activities

- We were excited to have three ladies from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church who visited the school. They also went to visit the community praying for our families and students during home visits.
Prayer Requests

- Pray for the safety of our students and their families during this political unrest. We pray that God gives our country peace and stability.
- Pray God to provide for our students and their families as many families struggle to make ends meet in this global economic crisis.
