Hope Transforms: A Success Story

David* joined our Coram Deo Centre in kindergarten early this year. He lives with his grandmother, aunt, and multiple cousins.

David’s grandparents had a disagreement with his mother and asked her to leave. The grandparents later parted ways and decided to live separately. David was left under the care of his aunt who has no job and struggles to meet the basic needs of the family of 11. Sometimes they would go a whole day without a meal. Many times David would come to school looking dirty and having had nothing to eat since he left school the day before.

As time went by David became angry and would use abusive language while talking to other children which led to him being involved in numerous fights. When the Social Worker and the School Chaplain noticed this trend they started to counsel and pray for and with David. They later looked for David’s mother and encouraged her to come back home and take care of him as he was affected by her leaving him.

Davids’s mother agreed to take David in and away from his aunt and extended family’s care. Soon she found a job that enabled her to feed and pay the required commitment fee for David’s schooling. They go to church and the boy comes to school clean and jovial. He has stopped fighting other children, is friendly, and sings passionately during devotions.

We thank God for it is evident that He is working in young David’s life. We have continued to walk with him closely. We pray that he will stay on this path he is currently on.
