Greetings! We would like to thank God as we wrap up another wonderful term and close the academic year. Here are some highlights I would like to share with you. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we transform lives through the hope of Christ.

Ann* is a parent to two of our students from our Area 2 community. Ann is a single mother after she and her husband separated. Due to life’s struggles over the last few years, Ann has struggled with her mental health. The situation came to our attention when she threatened to physically harm her children. During this time her sister came to take care of the two children while Ann was taken to Mathare Mental Hospital where she received treatment for a month.

The staff at our Area 2 Center were informed of what was happening and they ensured that the two children were taken care of. They were immediately put on the feeding program at MOHI. The feeding program ensures vulnerable students who are in danger of slipping into malnutrition or may sleep hungry when they are not in school are given food.. The teachers and social workers ensured that they kept tabs on the children and encouraged them to keep coming to school.

Once Ann was discharged from the hospital, she was very grateful to MOHI and her sister for springing into action when she needed her community the most. She was grateful that her children stayed in school and were guaranteed at least two meals a day while in school and put on the feeding program. She was grateful that her sister provided her children with somewhere to stay and someone to watch over them.

Ann’s spirits have since been lifted, she was encouraged by the support she saw given to her children from MOHI and her sister, this has kept her grateful for life and for her children. She is convinced that her children will grow up to be the kind of change that is needed to transform her community.

• Our kindergarten students celebrated the completion of their kindergarten education with a colorful graduation ceremony. They joined first grade in January.

• We pray for our children as they go through school to become all Jesus intends them to become.
• We thank God for the staff at our school who work diligently with the community to transform lives through the love of Jesus.
