Area 2

Overview:

Area 2 is a village of approximately 20,000 people located in the Mathare Valley slum between Juja Road and the Mathare River. Most community members are from the Kenyan tribes of Kikuyu, Kamba, and Luhya, and also Uganda's Bagusi tribe and Somalian tribes. A section of Area 2 known as Nigeria is extremely unsafe, as it is the primary location for buying illegal narcotics in Mathare Valley. The culture of individuals from this section of the village creates many challenges for our work in this community.  We pray that even this section's culture will be redeemed, and we will continue to see transformation in the community through the spreading of the Gospel.
